Precious metals, pearls and gemstones are all delicate materials that can be damaged with time. However, the good news is that, with a little care and attention, you can make sure that your Roqua jewellery will continue to look as good as the day you bought it for years to come.
We know it can be difficult, but we do recommend that you keep your jewellery away from water as far as possible. This is because minerals and deposits in tap water, swimming pools and the ocean all have the ability to degrade your jewellery over time. Additionally, if you are planning a heavy exercise session we advise you to take your jewellery off first as the salts in your sweat can also have a negative impact.
Shampoos, soaps, perfumes, deodorants, hairspray, make up, creams and lotions all contain chemicals that can damage your jewellery. We recommend that you avoid applying these while you are wearing your Roqua pieces and do your best to avoid direct contact.
Extremes in temperature along with direct sunlight can also negatively impact the longevity of your jewellery and prolonged exposure is best avoided. Some gemstones can fade when left in the sun too long.
Pearls were born in water and need a certain amount of moisture to keep looking their best. Fortunately, your body gives just the right amount! For this reason we recommend that you wear your pearls fairly regularly.
Storage
We recommend storing your jewellery individually in a soft pouch or box. This way you can avoid chains becoming tangled and damage occurring through pieces rubbing together or scratching each other. If you live in a particularly humid place it is a good idea to keep a small packet of desiccant crystals with your jewellery, but do be careful not to let your pearls dry out too much. If your jewellery will be stored for long periods of time we recommend taking it out for occasional cleaning and to wipe a damp cloth over your pearls.
Cleaning
Please avoid using any chemical cleaners with your jewellery or any specially treated cloth. Your best option is to rub it gently (in the same direction) with a soft lint-free cloth. Do not use paper towels as these could scratch your piece. For gemstones and pearls you may want to rub gently with a lukewarm damp cloth to help keep their lustre.
